# Agent Skill

> One SKILL.md file that teaches any AI agent to put a site online with ShipStatic, with no account needed.

One markdown file that teaches any AI agent to put what it made online and give you a link, with no account needed. An [Agent Skill](https://agentskills.io) named `publish-online`. [View SKILL.md](https://www.shipstatic.com/SKILL.md)

```bash
npx skills add shipstatic/plugin
```

## What it does

The skill keeps two questions apart:

1. **How the files travel.** A folder on disk goes through the [CLI](https://docs.shipstatic.com/cli) (`npx -y @shipstatic/ship@3 <folder>`), which reads the files from disk. When the CLI can't run, a few small files go through the [MCP](https://docs.shipstatic.com/mcp) server's `deployments_upload` tool.
2. **Where the site lands.** With nothing set up, the site has no account: it stays up for 3 days, and the agent gives you a claim link to keep it. If you have set up an account for the way the agent used, the site goes straight into it.

The agent publishes straight away, without asking you to sign in, and asks for built-in password protection when you want the site private.

## Get it

- **With the skills CLI:** `npx skills add shipstatic/plugin` installs it for the agents in your project, from Claude Code and Codex to Cursor and many more.
- **In a coding agent, with the MCP server too:** install the [ShipStatic plugin](https://docs.shipstatic.com/plugin). It carries this skill and the [MCP](https://docs.shipstatic.com/mcp) server, for Cursor, Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI.
- **In OpenClaw:** `openclaw skills install @shipstatic-com/shipstatic` installs it from ClawHub.
- **In Hermes:** `hermes skills install https://www.shipstatic.com/SKILL.md`.
- **As one file:** `curl --create-dirs -so .agents/skills/publish-online/SKILL.md https://www.shipstatic.com/SKILL.md`, or put it wherever your tool looks for skills.

The skill follows the [Agent Skills open standard](https://agentskills.io/specification): one `SKILL.md` file with YAML frontmatter, supported by Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI, Hermes, OpenClaw and [many more tools](https://agentskills.io).

## Into your account

Optional. Publishing needs no account, and the claim link moves a site into your account later. Each way has its own setup:

- **The CLI** publishes into your account once you run `npx -y @shipstatic/ship@3 config` with your [API Key](https://docs.shipstatic.com/api-key).
- **The MCP server** publishes into your account once your agent connects it to one. The agent asks you to sign in when it first needs your account.
